We sat down with Shae to talk about her journey, her approach to hair, and what clients can expect when they sit in her chair.
What inspired you to become a hairstylist?
“I’ve always loved the way hair can completely change how someone feels about themselves. Seeing that instant boost of confidence inspired me ,I wanted to help people see their own beauty the way I see it.”
That emotional connection is at the core of everything Shae does. Hair is the tool, but confidence is always the goal.
How did you get started in the beauty industry?
Shae began her career in Saskatoon, fresh out of school and eager to learn. From her very first clients to finding her niche in blondes, coppers, and effortless colour, each stage helped shape her style and technique. Eventually, the mountains called, and she brought her passion and experience with her.
What do you love most about doing hair?
“The connection,” Shae says. “I get to listen to people’s stories, make them feel confident, and be a small part of their lives. Watching someone light up when they see themselves in the mirror never gets old.”
What’s your favourite service to do?
Blondes, lived-in colour, and coppers are where Shae thrives. Her focus is on creating hair that feels elevated but effortless, tones and placement customized to each client’s lifestyle, with grow-out always in mind.
What does ‘great hair’ mean to you?
“Great hair isn’t about trends. It’s about what works for you, something that makes you feel confident, comfortable, and like yourself on your best day.”
What’s a skill you’re especially proud of mastering?
Shae specializes in colour that looks just as good months later as it does on day one. Low-maintenance, long-lasting results take intention and that’s where she shines.
What can clients expect in your chair?
Shae describes her approach as relaxed, intentional, and connection driven. She wants every client to feel comfortable, heard, and excited, whether that means chatting the whole appointment or simply taking a moment to breathe.
By the time clients leave, the goal is simple: hair that feels effortless, lived-in, and completely them.
Outside the salon…
When she’s not behind the chair, Shae is a self-proclaimed homebody. She loves hiking and paddleboarding in the mountains, cozy nights with her dogs, a glass of red wine, and (proudly) rewatching Friends or catching up on Real Housewives. Country music is always playing — and Oribe Supershine is always within reach.
